About the Pastors


Reverend Sakima Romero-Chandler 

Reverend Sakima Romero-Chandler was born and raised in Queens, New York. She is the daughter of Katrina Conway and Manuel Romero. She has one younger sister Aryana Conway-Swanston. She is also the mother of three beautiful daughters, Angelica, Kamani and Gabriella. Reverend Romero-Chandler serves as Founding Co-Pastor of Family Life Ministry AME Church in Hagerstown MD. Where she teaches: Bible Study, Vacation Bible School, and serves as a board member and liaison to The Engaging Men to prevent Domestic Violence. Reverend Romero-Chandler is an Itinerant Elder in the AME Church.

While living in New York City, she attained a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary and Early Childhood Education and African Studies from Queens College. In addition to these achievements, she also completed a Master of Science in Elementary Education with a specialization in Children’s Literature. After moving to Maryland, she received a Master of Divinity Degree from Howard University School of Divinity in Washington, D.C. Reverend Romero-Chandler has been granted an Honorary Doctorate in Ministry from Virginia Bible College in Dumfries, Virginia.


Reverend Sakima Romero-Chandler is a licensed Realtor and certified teacher, credentialed by the states of New York and Maryland. With more than 15 years of experience. Reverend Romero-Chandler continues to enhance education through her educational consulting company and her work as an Instructional Coach at District of Columbia Public Schools. Reverend Sakima Romero-Chandler is a woman who has faced and conquered many challenges and has brought great success in the lives of many children and adults. She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. Most importantly she is a daughter of the Most High God! As she continues on this road of ministry, she desires that she be an instrument of change that God will continue to use in the building of His Kingdom.


Reverend, Dr., Joseph C. Chandler, Jr. 

Reverend Dr. Joseph C. Chandler, Jr. was born in San Antonio, TX, reared in Denver, Colorado and Pensacola, Florida and raised in the Baptist Church by his parents, Joseph and Altha.  He retired from the United States Air Force in 1999, as a highly decorated Master Sergeant.  Reverend Chandler currently resides in Frederick, MD

In January 1999, while still on active duty, Dr. Chandler was called to Washington D.C. to testify before Senator Christopher Cox’s sub-committee on the technology safeguards he implemented in preventing the unauthorized transfer of U.S. technology to the foreign governments during joint space launch campaigns.  Due to his testimony and diligence in protecting our national assets; he is a recorded in our congressional history under the Select Committee, United States House of Representatives – U.S. National Security & Military/Commercial Concerns with the People’s Republic of China.

He  is also the President/Founder of Argus Eagle, LLC a company designed to assist DoD and Contractor Facilities in matters pertaining to strict National Security regulatory compliance. Rev.  Chandler is a strong and active member in his community through his direct involvement as 32nd Degree Master Mason, Shriner, Order of the Eastern Star and Lifetime Member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

Rev. Chandler is an ordained Itinerant Elder and Founding Pastor of Family Life Ministry AME Church in Hagerstown, Maryland in the Capital District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, renowned 2nd District. He is married to the Rev. Sakima  Romero-Chandler of New York; whose beautiful blended family consists of three daughters and two adult sons.

His motto is “Don’t ask me how I got there in my achievements, ask me about the Blessed journey”, and his favorite biblical story is the Book of Ruth.
